With regard to the original question of shortwave WeFax reception, I would
suggest adding a Sony an-102 active antenna into the mix.

Although I don't have any experience in the mater of direct satellite
imagery reception (yet), I was under the impression that with the correct
antenna and the right know-how, it was possible to receive such imagery,
directly, at zero cost. (The right antenna being either a Crossed Dipole
Antenna or a little Quadrifilar Helix Antenna (QFH)).

For those with more substantial resources, I see that Ocens have a product
called Seatation that uses a QFH and it looks like they also sell a
specialized receiver with some nice software and services to tie it all
together. However, I suspect I could do practically the same thing by
hooking up QFH to a regular HF radio.

Has anyone here done this already?

    .Conor
