Having been employed in the health insurance field
here in the States, and knoing the lengths they will
go - both to sell a policy and to avoid paying a claim
- I'd strongly advise anyone considering such a policy
to obtain clarification here.
Would an injury aboard your own vessel be considered
excluded as the company considers sailing an amateur
"sport"? I wouldn't feel comfortable with verbal
assurances. I'd want something in writing from an
underwriter.
Granted, there may still be some value to a policy
that would exclude injuries occurring aboard, but such
a thing should be valued with eyes open.
