Aye, Admiral.
My list differs this way:
2. WAAS GPS stationary chart-plotter (at the helm station)
3a. WAAS GPS stationary unit (at the nav station)
3b. GPS handheld unit (+ 2 identical backups)
My laptop will probably only be used rarely while underway for navigation,
unless I have a complete failure of dedicated units. Third-level backup
only. Chart plotter is a Garmin 182C; color is a very important component
IMO. Fixed GPS is a Furuno GP32. Handhelds are old Garmin 12, 45, and 48.
Also have a TI-86 calculator to do sight reductions if/when I use the
sextant.
The laptop will be used for weather fax downloads. Then put away, so it
will be available next time.
Oh, and forget the parrot. Substitute dogs.
