I liked the Lagoon also. For my purposes (full time cruising) the Lagoon would need some additional fuel capacity added. This can be done easily enough, it is just another outfitting cost in my purchase matrix.

The performance and stability are two of the reasons we're looking at multis. I had heard that people who sail tri's never want to go back to monos, but I haven't seen one that grabbed me yet. I'm not ruling it out, though!

I have been shopping in the 42 to 45 foot range of catamarans, and have met several sailors who single hand these boats. Two things that they mention: without healing the ride is more relaxed and rest time more productive, second these boats should always be sailed by the numbers (cut sail early) since they do not act well when overpowered.

I have been leaning toward the French boats, rather than S. African models, but one of the nicest boats I've looked at was a Dean.

Feel free to contact off board to compare notes

We've been looking at the 440, advertised as a shorthand-friendly model. We figure that by the time we're ready to buy, we should be able to find a used one in our budget! (crossing our fingers). Of course, all of this would be subject to change!

What do you think of Lagoon? I hate to bring up another builder, but having the opinion of someone more experienced than myself would be very much appreciated.
