I'll probably be a lurker unless someone needs help in fixing something on their boat.

Back in 1980 I began building Quartet, our Roberts Offshore 38. She was launched in 1986 and we've been sailing her on the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays ever since. She has an Airex cored hull, and balsa cored deck with endgrain mahogany in areas with compressive load. She's proven to be a very solid, stable, and comfortable boat - not nearly as fast as today's racers, but a lot more comfortable in a nasty sea.

In January I retire from duPont after 30 years and the thought has occured to us to do some long distance sailing. So I'll be listening to the various posts and giving what help I can.

    there is nothing-
    absolutely nothing-
    half so much worth doing
as simply messing about in boats.
