I would recommend the book "North to the Night" by Alvah Simon. He and his
wife cruise north. He overwinters, solo, anchored in the ice. Entertaining
book. Two words to add to your concerns : Carbon Monoxide. The north would
be great to explore in summer. I'd never do what he did.

Greetings. Recently we have found our attention turning to high latitudes.
I was just in Trondheim Norway and would love to sail that coast. On the
flight home to Seattle I had a wonderful view of the coast of Greenland and
Baffin Bay on a sunny October afternoon. Most attractive. And Ireland and
Scotland are very high on our "must sail" list.

But most cruising stories emphasize the tropics. Anybody care to share
comment more pertinent to the high latitudes? We are on the beach for
three years and will accomplish a refit over that period, so now is a good
time to consider this. What have you found to be the most important
considerations? I suspect that heat and condensation are #1 and #2, so
    what are #3, 4, 5, 6,....etc?

Thanks! I look forward to your replies.
