Actually, it also happened here in California near Morro Bay. The whale
breached and landed on the fishing boat last year. The owner was killed and
I believe there was at least one survivor. It shocked everyone with the
circumstances, but no one reported that it was intentional on the part of
the whale. Unfortunately yesterday, at Avila Beach not far from Morro Bay
by coastline, a great white shark mistook a swimmer for a seal and she did
not survive. This area is beautiful and has lots of wildlife but it is also
a wild coast!
