Harry,
I hadn't considered BC at all. I was once assigned to McChord back in
the 70's. My mother-in-law grew up on, I think, Bainebridge Island
but hasn't been back in quite a number of years. It can get a bit
grey up that way but it didn't seem to bother me too much for the
couple years I was there. I know there wasn't too much snow but it
also wasn't too warm. BC, being further North, I would think would be
colder. I also thought it would be quite expensive since a lot of
Californians went that direction in the last 20 years to find
something less expensive and drove up the prices. Am I wrong about
that?
How is BC as far as climate, real estate prices, U.S. citizens owning
property there, taxes, etc.?
As you can tell, right now, I'm open to just about all information. I
try to be as realistic as I can but if I could get my wife to go, (My
mother-in-law is 89 and my wife would like to stay somewhat near for
awhile but in 2 years, who knows.) I'd consider other, more southerly
countries particularly those of the Northern Mediterranean area,
presuming the prices, etc. were good and could qualify for the
medical programs there.
Rick
