Yes, we live here now. I moved down from Redondo Beach a few years
ago when I met my wife. I was ready to move and do something
    different.

Thanks for the info about the East coast. I lean toward Florida.
Warmer than Virginia I think but not having ever been there, I don't
know first hand. Plus, I have a son in Florida who might be able to
    look out after things.

A home base is what we want. Don't think we want a condo since there
are all the fees attached to those and you never know when an
assessment will rear its ugly head. An older house would be good as
long as it is well above any storm surge. Someplace that we can
either leave our stuff or we can store our stuff and rent out the
property. Could give a nice little boost to the cruising kitty.

    Thanks for the info.

    Rick

    >I didn't know you were also from San Diego. On our year long voyage, we

    >tidewater area of Virginia (Deltaville to Norfolk) as well as Florida. In
    >the tidewater area are many inexpensive boatyards and marinas. A great
    >place to do the outfitting. Florida also is prime boat fitting-out country
    >and has affordable housing if you move inland. Both offer significant

    >cheaper than here in San Diego.
