On 6/17 I sent the following :
Sailing this weekend in Dana Point, CA. I saw the epitome of a blue water
cruising boat, but what was it? This is what I observed. Can you identify
the boat make?
About 34 - 36 feet length
Double Ended
very heavy duty tiller steering with transom hung rudder - Aries or the like
self steering
cutter rig - the kind with self tacking staysail (with a boom going forward
from the mast)
3 chainplates on the outside of the hull
This one had a dark red/brown hull. Very salty looking. Like a Pacific
Seacraft 34 but a cutter and with a transom rudder. Like Island Packet but
double ender. The boat was either new or in excellent condition.
Love at first sight for me!

On my recent cruise to Catalina Island I saw the boat at a mooring and
introduced myself. By the way, a great way to meet a boatowner is to paddle
up in a kayak and say "You've got the nicest cruising boat in the harbor -
what is it?"
You can see a picture here, on my boat's web page:

<http://www.indiscipline.org/cat25/vacation03.html> Scroll down the page
until you see the Pacific Seacraft Mariah 31.
By the way, the owner and a crew of 3 other men are leaving for Panama in
late October (not going on the Ha Ha).
I am pleased at how well I described the boat from a quick glimpse in the
harbor.
