The glass skins will almost always be thinner than the core; however,
sounds like these hulls might be similar to the hulls designed to sink 1
foot after they cross the finish line<G>.

This is kind of an indirect answer; however, somebody out there is using
a lot of 17 oz double bias glass around here. My glass supplier keeps
between 10-20 rolls in stock for next day delivery. Average roll weighs
about 225 lbs. This is glass sized for epoxy, not polyester.

To be sure, epoxy and knitted glass construction will be more likely
found in high performance applications where high strength and low
weight are prime considerations rather than mom & pop type cruising
    vessels.

Not sure, but think the F-27, folding cat may be done this way.

Using epoxy and knitted glass requires a whole different approach to
laminating than polyester, mat, and woven roving which has an impact on
    the builder.
