Peter,
I was discussing with someone who is thinking about going cruising
and therefore, live outside the U.S. the other day about the value of
the U.S. dollar outside the U.S. He was saying that in Brazil (he as
relatives by marriage there) the Brazilian currency was 4 to 1 USD
and is now only 3 to 1. I was talking to him about the Euro and how,
if I were living in Europe, I would have lost about 25% of my
income's buying power during the last 6 months alone making it quite
a bit more difficult to live on a fixed income while cruising or just
living there.
Since you are sailing the Web, I thought I'd ask you how it is there
in Uruguay. Is it similar to what I've seen and heard elsewhere or
different?
Also, what's the sailing like in Uruguay? What's Uruguay like from a
sailor's point of view including getting through customs, etc. It's a
place we here in the U.S. don't hear much about but at least a
direction a lot of us are "itching" to go.
