Personally, I don't like them, and don't want to cut off my peripheral
vision, as "glacier glasses" will do. Many professional sailors wear
sunglasses that wrap around the face, providing similar protection to the
glacier glasses but not destroying your peripheral vision.
The most important reason to wear sunglasses is for UV (A and B) protection.
Polarized lenses will help with glare, but be aware that most LCD instrument
displays are polarized...in some cases they'll be difficult to read with
polarized lenses.
