Subject: [world-cruising] Centerboards

In the hopes of not in-sighting World War lll, I would like to get some
feedback on retractable centerboards for Bluewater Cruisers. I see the
benefit of being able to gunkhole in shallower waters, but what about
sailing characteristics and the obvious fear of mechanical failures?
