.:.Yeah, I can. Just like Cruising World was when it first started
.:.publication. A great cruisers mag, instead of another vehicle for
.:.advertising that it is now.
You mean like Latts & Atts is now? All magazines are just a vehicle for
advertising--as are newspapers, TV, radio and, increasingly, movies. That's
the whole purpose of a capitalist system.
BTW, IMHBCO, what a great scam that Bob Bitchin's got going. Consider this:
According to his book and his articles, between bouts of drunken debauchery
he bumbles around the world in search of a generator mechanic and then
stumbles into a Prince who bankrolls his publication. So he spends the next
few years writing a series of articles about his generator problems and
everybody else's drinking problems in one exotic port or another while at
the same time publishing whatever ill researched, poorly written article or
pix that tumbles in over the transom that he doesn't have to pay for. Then
he gets the rest of us to sign up for more.
Then he gets every known manufacturer of marine equipment on the face of the
earth to donate and install a piece of gear on his rotting apart Taiwanese
barge in exchange for a favorable mention in his column while managing to
sell them ad space, too.
Finally, once he's got his boat fixed and his finances straightened out, Bob
takes off for parts unknown in a completely re-outfitted, nearly rebuilt
boat with a bevy of buxom ill-clad women and some hard drinking buddies.
All the while, his subscription and ad money keep on pouring in.
Is this a great country or what! Why didn't I think of it first?
