If I made it sound like we were going to spend $100,000 on a boat, please forgive me, that was not my intent. I have no idea how much we would spend, I have not looked into this aspect at all yet, except some places on the internet, where I saw I could buy a 100 year old 80 foot tug boat for 20,000 and a new 50 foot yacht for 3 million, and everything in between.
If my husband and I decide to do this, we have maybe YEARS of study before we make the right decision. Size, new or used, gas prices, health issues, where we want to go, etc.
We are extraordinarily frugal in our buying habits and live a minimalist lifestyle. (I only own three pairs of shoes, and to tell the truth that is two pairs more than I have ever owned in my adult life), but then again, I am tending to rethink this. It sounded WONDERFUL, until today, when I thought "Am I going to be happy in a small cabin of a boat for DAYS or WEEKS on end, with no contact with the outside world??" My husband and I decided to see if we could handle staying inside our home for a week, without going out at all, as a kind of a test. I truly dont know if I would be happy living like that for the rest of my life. I am also worried that we would travel to places I would love to visit, and not be able to do anything because we dont have any money, or dont want to spend it.
There is a lot to consider. I want to make the most intellegent choice for me and my wonderful husband.

Shorter answer yet is No. A hundred grand powerboat can _easily_ burn more
than $1,500 a month in fuel, and engine (read "expensive") rebuilds are a
fact of life.
