Ammonia has the advantage of being extremely detectable well below
exposure limits in case of a leak. But I don't think I'd want it on
my boat.

We have a dual engine driven/110 system. We can keep things cold, and
can keep things frozen, but can't keep ice cream or freeze anything.
We just don't have drinks with ice or ice cream unless ashore. It
makes a nice treat.
We also have way more refrigeration space than we actually need - 17
cubic feet. But that's what came with the boat.
