I have a propane powered cooler on my boat and it works just fine. I
don't run it heeled over, but in port or motoring in a calm is fine.
Propane reefers are common on catamarans. Less so on monohulls.

Not sure the $200 I spent on my used propane cooler was cost-
effective though. Ice is $1.50 a bag where I sail and a bag will
last a day and a half in a onboard ice box, while two bags last one
day in my $17.99 K-Mart special cooler.
