Tim,
The weakest component in any boat is the crew. Almost any boat built can
withstand almost any ocean storm. Unfortunately, the crew cannot. The crew
will become physically or mentally disabled when the boat motion exceeds
their capabilities. You say, "I realize at 32' we would probably get
bounced around in bad weather, but that doesn't bother me. It's the
life threatening stuff that I worry about." You should worry about "getting
bounced around a bit", because that *can be* life threatening.
Having said that, if you plan properly, you have an excellent probability of
having a comfortable and uneventful voyage. But you should be aware that
you have an equally strong possibility of completely disabling your crew,
should you get into a storm while enroute.
You pays your money, you takes your chances. Good luck.
