Rick,
Happy birthday! When you get around to it, I'd like to hear about
your vacation.
I would also like to know how it is in this modern world to cruise on
an older 32 footer where the amenities are not so spacious and about
what it takes to keep everyone generally happy within the limited
space and eating/sleeping arrangements dictated by the layout. 32
feet isn't large but, by today's standards, neither is 36-38 feet. I
guess I'm getting plenty tired of waiting to get the next boat of the
type I believe would solve the problems best.
Just heard on another list that at least one person is dropping out
of the cruising dream because he feels that with all the USCG and
other boardings, etc., the cruising lifestyle is going the way of the
mountain man in the early 1800's U.S. I would presume the live aboard
in a marina would not, then, be far behind since it is already
difficult in many places to do that not to mention living on a hook.
From what you have seen from your years in the Pacific, your time on
the U.S. East Coast, and now in Puerto Rico, is it really coming to
this? What do you think it will be like in 5 or 10 years based on
your experiences to date?
Thanks.
Rick
