Hi Bryan,

No problem; I have been a bit "hormonal" myself these last couple of days,
LOL! This is an excellent explanatory email - thank you. I have the
greatest admiration for all rescue service members, and we contribute
regularly to the upkeep of the NSRI here in South Africa, and also when in
England to their RNLI service. In Britain and out here, all are volunteer -
they don't get paid a penny, and are supported by the public for funding.
Talk about commitment, wow!

We were once foolish enough to accept an offer of a day sail with an idiot
(what can I say? We were new to it all and hadn't learnt to spot 'em yet!
LOL!) in a ferro-cement sailboat when we first went to Richards Bay - he
hadn't much clue about the boat, the conditions, the seas, or anything else,
and we ended up having to get a toe-in from the NSRI - the idiot still
didn't realise the danger he had put us (and them) in, and still was playing
"Captain of the Main" to the hilt. We gave a large donation to the life boat
station, but later found he himself hadn't given anything. I guess you get
them everywhere. Sigh!

Anyway, I am grateful for the part you yourself have played in sea rescue,
and on behalf of all those who didn't thank you - I THANK YOU! You are
greatly needed, and appreciated. :-)

Best
Jodie
