Subject: [world-cruising] Well, maybe the time has come...

Hi,
There finally might be just enough money and I'm sick and tired of living in a
house, so we're scraping all our money together and looking around for a
boat.
Now, I'm Australian and my girlfriend is French, and we're trying to decide
where to start things out -- East Coast Aus or Europe/Med. So, has anyone
got any ideas of costs of boats (in the 30-32' range) and costs of cruising
in Europe vs Aus.
We will be trying to do things on the lower end of the purchase end, and
mooring at anchor as often as possible (we just can't wait any longer to make
a start.) I know in Australia you can moor at anchor pretty much anywhere
along the coast and islands for free and the marinas are quite inexpensive.
What about the mediterranean? Can we just move from port to port, island to
island and stay for free or is it like the UK where even the creek/inlets are
mostly changing for moorings. This will be a large factor in deciding where
to cruise because the costs will determine how long we can spend before
rebuilding the back account.
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
P.S. I'd like to point out to Granny that I've removed the pgp signature, so
I hope this message won't cause her any more much pain :)
