There is no such thing as typical. It is purely a function of the region
you are in and what the traffic will bear. More expensive in high traffic
areas (east coast of Florida and NYC) and less expensive when off the
beaten track or for marinas with less facilities.
Additional fees can be for electricity (sometimes a flat rate and sometimes
metered), water (unusual to charge for water in the USA, but is sometimes
done in the Keys, and often done in the Bahamas), and there is also
sometimes (particularly in Florida) an addition fee if you are a
liveaboard.
It depends also on what you want in a marina. Do you need
Security - i.e. a locked gate, or a guard?.
Parking for a car
Pumpout?
Laundry facilities?
Showers and toilets?
Pool?
Ice?
Cable TV?
Phone?
Haulout ability?
Maintenance persons available, or DIY or can you get your own people to
work on the boat - will the marina let in outside contractors?
How is protection from wind, and wakes?
What kind of tides are there? Are floating docks necessary or will
fixed docks do?
Do you need to be within walking or biking distance of shopping?
Can you get mail there?
Is fuel available there?
As someone has pointed out hauling and pressure wash will cost extra. Also
the marina will most likely require you to have insurance (so get a
pre-purchase survey with that in mind).
Typical rate/ft for a month (not a year) from a 2 year old Skipper Bob
marina guide shows that in NC Masonboro Boat yard charged a flat $350/month
with metered electric and a $35/month liveaboard fee, and Sea Gate Marina
charged $6/ft/month and $28/month for electricity and no live-aboard fee.
Sea Gate has fixed docks and Masonboro has floating docks, but both have,
no pumpout, no fuel and no pool and no cable.
In SC, Ashley Marina in Charleston is $16/ft/month and $60/month for
electric but no liveaboard fee but Bucksport Plantation near Murrell's
Inlet on the Wacamaw River is only $3/ft/month with $10/month for
electricity. But Bucksport has fixed kind of rickety looking docks, no
laundry facilities, and is very very isolated, where as Ashley has floating
docks and is right in the middle of Charleston if you can get your mast
under the fixed bridge.
Keep in mind that some marinas change the rates with the season, and some
marinas require that you move during some large events when they rent the
docks out - for instance Miamarina in Miami rents the marina to the Miami
Boat show in Feb, and everyone has to leave.
