Subject: [worldcruising] Email Options When Cruising

Greetings All,
We are getting close to the point where we'll be heading off cruising
beginning around the local Australia coastal ports.
Though the fabled list still has many items on it, we've split it into A's
(Must be done before we go), B's (It would be nice to have it done before
we go) and C's (If we've got some spare time we'll do it - but probably not
before we go) and the A's are now down to just 2 or 3 items - like install
the overhauled engine.
One thing we've left for the last minute is our email connection. Initially
we'll use a cellular phone but later, when we're heading offshore - into
the South West Pacific we'll want to be able to get email either via HF
radio or via Satellite.
Can anyone tell me the current state of play with on-board email - when
offshore?
We have a couple of friends who have used "seamail" and they rate it quite
highly - albeit it is slow.
But what else is available or "in the pipeline"?
