For me, it was magazine articles in Ocean Navigator and the early Blue Water
Sailing (before it degenerated into another CW). I suppose that books like
The Seven Seas, Moby Dick and the Hornblower books were influential too. But
nothing inspired me as much as the old B&W TV series, Adventures in Paradise.

Cornell's "World Cruising Routes," Sailing Directions or Coast Pilot for
wherever you're headed, H.O. 229 or 249 and a current Almanac. All for
obvious reasons.

Good sailing,

John
