John
I have found the Bellingham charts to be adequate.
I used then for all of the trip from NY to Melbourne (oz) including some South America.
Main disadvantage is that they are not coloured. In some areas with extensive reefs it is hard to work out which area on the chart is water etc.
I have not tried the electronic charts because I like to be able to see both the local area and wider picture at a glance. I can write on GPS readings as I go.

Subject: [worldcruising] Electronic Charts
Hi, I am looking at purchasing electronic charts for the east coast of Australia
with Bellingham copies as a back up. As I will be visisting the Liousiades, Solomons, Vanuato and New Caledonia I
intend purchasing original charts for these areas. How has any of you found
the electronic charts to be like? and would the Bellingham copies be
sufficient as back up. Regards John s/v tayben
