That leaves plenty of time. You have to be in Australia before the Cyclone season that start in November.
I got caught near one between Tahiti and Tonga in early November.
There is plenty to see on the way.
Galapagus, maquesas, Society Is. Cook Is, Tonga, Fiji. Wallis Is. etc.

  I am presently living in Las Vegas, NV and boat is in the Sea of Cortez
  (Mexico west coast). Will look at boatpoint.com.au I have one of their
  magazines now and you are right about racers and Roberts designs. Boats
  usually jump off in Nov/Dec to South Pacific from Mexico. I like the idea of
  living in Queensland with Noumea and the other S Pacific isles being so
  close. Phucket looks good too.
