When sailing from Panama to Maquesas Foxy 2 was the only marine station I could get. I could still hear Herb on the same frequency from Canada. As I got closer to French Polynesia I tried the French marine radio in Tahiti but they did not answer. Seems they only communicate in French. My next contact was Radio NZ on 4162 late at night local time. Once I got to Tahiti I could get Russel Radio.

|o| SSB or Ham rig.
|o| However to test your signal, the best thing to do is try to
|o| join a Maritime
|o| Mobile Cruising net and ask how your signal is.

|o| I'd find one that fits your time schedule and mode (marine

|o| listen in for a day or two to see how the net works, and then

|o| But be careful to observe net etiquette. Underway and

|o| of the net or
|o| just before the net for people to chitchat and get radio checks.
