What are you doing for charts? I used Bellingham folders of photocopied charts. You need hundreds of charts so Bellingham was a big saving.
Bellingham are at http://www.tidesend.com/folios.htm They have portfolio for the galapagus the Pacific crossing, NZ etc.

  David,

You can download the South Pac routing charts in PDF format at:
  http://164.214.12.145/pubs/pubs_j_apc_list.html

Takes a bit of time (big files) but they are worth it. Only the South
Pac and Indian Ocean charts are available at the moment with the North
Atlantic coming on line in a few months time. Just download the months -
not the cover and other files as they are more advertising as anything
  else.

Thank you George and Barry for your advice and comments.

About the timing of the passage - yes I accept the absolute windows -
leave Panama before June or July and arrive into Auckland before
early November. But what is the earliest it is sensible to leave
Panama? I was intending to leave for the Galapogas around 1st
March. Assuming a slow passage (one week?) and the maximum allowed
time there (two weeks? - any updates on this?) that would mean
leaving for the French Marquesas around 21st March and arrival mid
April. Does this seem sensible or is it a little early?

Can anyone put me in touch with a source of photocopied US (or
Admiralty) paper charts for the crossing to New Zealand? Or does
anyone have charts and pilot books they would be willing to sell or
  trade?

I have a set of C-Map NT cartidges for most of the Caribbean,
Venezuela, and the Western Caribbean coast from Cuba to Panama if any
  one is interested.

Any other comments and views very welcome
