Graham:

My boat's standing rigging, made up with Norseman terminals, is 21 years old.
Every rigger I've spoken with since I bought her says "don't worry about it."
There is no question that their reliability far exceeds swages, at least over
time.

I believe that current wisdom is to replace swaged rigging at 10 years.

Last winter in Trinidad, a friend and I discussed the merits and cost of
Sta-Loks Vs swages on a re-rig of his Hans Christian. The job was to be done
by Budget Marine. Our conclusion was that if he were to sell within 10 years,
he'd use swages and save, as I recall, US$ 700. If he were to keep the boat,
he'd spend the money so as not to re-rig at all in 10 years. This man is in
his late 60s and I doubt he believes that he'll be sailing her in 10 years,
but he went with the Sta-Loks anyway. I suppose Sta-Loks would be a good
selling point, but would not affect the selling price at all.

Sorry, I have no experience making-up Sta-Lok terminals.
