Subject: [worldcruising] Re-Rigging Project

Hi Folks
Does anyone have experience of the relative merits (cost, practicality,
reliability) of rolled swages v compression type swages (eg Sta-Loc,
Norseman)
I am weighing up whether it is more cost effective to buy a big roll of
wire and make up the new rigging with sta-locs rather than having the
rigging made up professionally with rolled swages.
Time is not a problem (I have plenty spare) but I have no experience of
using sta-loc type fittings.
I was planning to replace all the rigging screws (I think the current
ones are 25 years old). The mast tangs and look pretty sound and solid
so I'll re-use those.
Appreciate any views.
