John, there is a very active group of HAM radio operators in the
Vancouver area who have already developed a world wide HAM to
Internet link. It is currently operational in Canada, USA, Britian
Japan, Norway, South Africa and Australia.
IRLP stands for the Internet Radio Linking Project. The aim of this
project is to link radio systems separated by long distance without
the use of expensive leased lines, satellites, or controllers.

I am able to hit the IRLP net with my set on 6M.
