[worldcruising] Windlass recommendation?

Subject: [worldcruising] Windlass recommendation?

I am taking deliver of a new Brewer 44' pilothouse in October so I
have a clean slate from which to work. There is a ton of available
information on selecting/sizing anchors, but there is prescious
little on Windlasses concerning configuration preferences and general
reliability.

Feedback on the following would be appreciated:

1) Horizontal or vertical axis for the the capstan/gypsy.

2) Good/Bad experiences with:
    - Maxwell
    - Ideal
    - Simpson Lawrence
    - Lofranse
    - Anchorlift

Many thanks in advance - Peter
