Mike
I am interested in a Pelican 42 in South Africa which is a cat ketch "freedom" style rig.
It has a hull constructed with 4 layers of cold moulded timber using "West epoxy" system
It looks like a Freedom 40.
Ever heard of a Pelican design?

I owned a freedom 33 for two plus years. The boat had been converted from
wishbone to standard boom this was good for windward sailing but a pain for
all else. We went cruising on are so we had a chance to sail in all wind
types the boat was stable and some what fast till we loaded it up for
cruising then it changed to a slow would not tack sailboat needed 10 plus
just to make it move (this was not the boats problem just to much weight
because of what we thought we need to go)down wind they are better than a
lot of race boats. One last item these boats are cored hulls balsa!! are
boat had water get into the core this required some very intense repair. I
would never buy a cored hull boat again!! hope this helps any other
questions just ask Mike
