Subject: [worldcruising] Sail Cleaning

Is anyone on the list aware of a company anywhere in the world which
does mechanical sail cleaning on large yacht sails?
There are any number of lofts which drag a sail in, flood it with
water, chemicals and then give someone a scrub brush. After
scrubbing they will run it up a pole to rinse, dry and then bag it
for return to the yacht.
By "large" sails I mean those over 600 square feet or approximately
65 square metres. There are large commercial washing machines (not
specifically made for sails) which can handle sails for boats up to
about 40 feet but to my knowledge nothing larger than that.
Besides, tumbling around with a mechanical agitator would not be
ideal treatment for laminated composite materials.
I open this up to "anywhere in the world" as I am interested in a
mechanical solution not a scrub brush. There is a firm on the East
coast of the USA which cleans sails but as above they simply use a
large commercial washing machine and are thus limited by size.

Dave
