Is there adequate flow through the heat exchanger. How hot is the salt water when it leaves the exchanger?

I've checked all the usual stuff (impeller, coolant level, thermostat, belt
tightness, cleaned heat exchanger), but I still overheat. Has anyone back
flushed their diesel cooling system? Anything special I need to know?
