Subject: [worldcruising] Weather Fax Reception Question

Hi all...
I'm at home practicing receiving hf weather faxes...
Ok, I'm a geek...
Anyway, I seem to be having a little trouble getting my receiver (Sangean ats-803a)tuned
properly...
The instructions on the NOAA site say to tune your receiver 1.9 Khz lower than the
advertised freq. and then set if for USB...
My receiver doesn't have a "fixed" USB, it has a BFO knob that I'm using tha same way
I do when I'm listening to two Ham's yap, I use the BFO to tune out the beat frequency...
Anyway, I don't seem to be getting anything intelligible out...
Any help would be appreciated...
