Boiling has to be one of the most expensive ways to not change the taste of
your water. If your boil it for 15 minutes, though, you should kill most
bugs. Better to get a faucet mounted Brita filter. They take out 99%+ of
most everything...

If you are paranoid about the drinking water in San Francisco, I suggest
you don't travel very much...
