Subject: [worldcruising] Short wave weather and chat

Hello.
Can anyone help me set up an aerial for my short wave receiver, a
Roberts R827 with single sideband oscillator.
How can I use the backstay, would it need to be insulated ... 1. from
the fiberglass deck (surely that IS insulation) ... and 2. from the
rest of the rig at the masthead.
Also does anyone know how I would use 12 Volts ships batteries with
the radio which uses a 240 Volts to 6 Volts mains transformer?
The radios' telescopic antenna is too long to extend in the cabin of
my Folkdancer 27.
