Russ, I live on a Bolger AS29- 30' x 8' x 14" fixed draft, 7000#
disp, twin bilgeboards- which is trailerable behind a 3/4 ton truck
and has some offshore capability, though it is really a coastal
cruiser. There are _several_ folding, trailerable trimarans in the 27-
32 foot range that have been sailed across oceans, notably the
Farrier F-32. There are several monohulls from 20-30' which were
specifically designed to be both trailerable and offshore capable,
one by Ian Oughtred, a couple manufactured in California (brand name
escapes me now), one in particular 26', 7000# that has amassed a very
good offshore record. Don't forget the Wharram Tiki 26 catamaran,
frequently available on the used market for a nominal sum, which is
also trailer-transportable (but not really a trailer sailer) and also
offshore capable.
So what you want is out there and with a good selection of types,
you'll just have to do a bit of looking to find which sort fits your
needs the best.

which may have to be put to open-water cruising e.g. (say) Indian
Ocean...but certainly waters like the Banda Sea in Indonesia, Coral
Sea off Australia and the waters to the south of Australia.
