Thanks everyone for all the Bahamas info (Feel free to send more). I have the Dodge and Pavilidis Abaco books, I also have Pavilidis' "On and Off The Beaten Path" on the central and southern Bahamas. When I was visiting Cat Island (By plane) it was very accurate and complete. It said the strangest thing about the Orange Creek Inn where we stayed: "Very nice modern hotel with well stocked store, for some reason it was closed on Saturday." It turned out that the owners are Seventh Day Adventists.
BTY: We had a wonderful time there, you see mostly local people in their natural life state as there are so few outsiders. Cat Islanders have a cultural thing that when they pass another person, it is REQUIRED that they stop and talk, even if driving, you must at least shout out the window! I mentioned this to "Miss Clair" that ran the hotel, she said it gave her the creeps if someone came in the store and "just stood there" not saying anything. Oh, picking up hichhickers is also required.
As the Abaco books are now several years old, how accurate are the GPS points?
