In some 20 years of living aboard and cruising we found MANY PLACES that had
no Laundromat. Laundromats are usually only found in the big city main
commercial ports of the South Pacific, Central America or the Caribbean -
places we attempt to avoid. And if there was one, it was frequently
extremely expensive and/or miles from the dinghy dock.

Soaking clothes loosens up the dirt so that not much agitation is needed.
The real work of hand washing clothes is in wringing them out - especially
jeans. What I wouldn't have given for some kind of a hand operated wringer.
