[worldcruising] Zinc Anode protection for Steel Boats

Subject: [worldcruising] Zinc Anode protection for Steel Boats

Can anyone help! We are going to be launching our 14 ton 44 foot
steel cutter this spring, and have not been able to come up with any
information on where and how many zinc anodes to put on our boat. We
already have shaft zincs and one on the propeller. I understand that
it is possible to over protect the boat, which is just as bad as not
having enough. Does anyone in this group own a boat of our size?
What has worked for you. One more thing, Do you have any rusting
problems around the tabs of the welded on anodes? I would think that
the paint that is blistered off under the tab would rust since you
cannot get any paint on it after welding. Is it possible that the
zinc protects the steel from rusting? Lots of questions, I know, but
having no luck so far in finding anyone with any practicle experence.

Thanks,
David & Rose
