Overall I'd say positive.
The new owner (18 months or so) is a young guy (28), but he really seems to know his stuff.
Plus, the former owner, Capt. John Poole, is hanging around often and tends to add an air of
experience to the whole thing...
This may sound a bit arrogant, but to be honest, I didn't learn anything in the classroom that I
didn't already know from my readings...Honestly, not one thing...
My primary reasons for taking the course were to confirm that I ACTUALLY knew what I THOUGHT I
knew...And, to get some time behind the wheel, to turn my theoretical knowledge into practical
knowledge...
Now that I KNOW I can get the boat in and out of the slip, pull up to the fuel dock when
necessary, anchor (still need more practice there before I'll feel somewhat comfortable), reef the
sails, heave-to, and so on, I'm ready to get more "stick time" under my belt...
