Rosalie:
I'm planning a Bermuda trip for May/June of next year. May/June seems to be
the recommended time for best weather. Probable route will travel from West
Palm Beach to Abacos, then head North to Bermuda. If you follow the Gulf
Stream, you are adding many miles to your trip even if you gain a few knots
from the stream. The rhumb line distance from WPB to Bermuda is 874 km,
according to my GPS. I figure that means 7 to 10 days at sea. Actually
less if you knock off 100 miles for the travel to Abacos. There will be two
of us on my boat (Cape Dory 30), so the watch standing could get pretty
monotonous. By the way, I am 65 years old, although my crew is in his early
50's.
Stay in touch, maybe we can coordinate our trips and communicate in route.
