[worldcruising] Log Books

Subject: [worldcruising] Log Books

Hello,

Every time I read a book, magazine article or whatever document related to
sailing, written by a sailor, the author's curriculum is always expressed in
thousand miles he has sailed, plus a few more achievments of his carreer.

-How can one prove the miles he has sailed?

-Is there a personal log book for this purpose, or do they prove their
mileage by referring to their boat's navigation diary?

-Even if there is a personal log book, what makes it a believable proof of
the achievments? a port authority stamp?

Best regards,

Luis
