I wouldn't worry much about the sucking and blowing just yet unless you've
checked it before you had the water-in-the-oil problem and it wasn't doing it
then. Likely it's always done that and you haven't noticed it before you
started looking around due to the other problem.
If you have had your boat awhile and had siphoned water in you'd know it, I'd
think. I will bet a cold beer that you have a bad oil cooler; i.e. one of the
tubes has corroded. If so, you will see oil in the exhaust water when the
engine is running and water will get into the oil when it is shut down. If
you suspect it, bypass the water side of it with a long piece of hose, and
you will see soon enough if there is a problem or not.
It's unlikely it's a head gasket, IMO.
