A group of us on the Multihull List got together and made a CD of books that
are public domain and which we felt would be useful on a boat. There are a
couple thousand general texts (mostly older classics with the copyright
expired), Bowditch -The American Practical Navigator, the navrules, SHIP
CAPTAIN'S MEDICAL GUIDE (by the brit gov't), International Maritime Signals,
US Navy signal flags, Semaphores, etc...

Anyway, if anyone wants a real listing of the files included, I can send
them direct, but it is *well* beyond the scope of this list. Briefly, here
are the "Credits:

Most of these electronic books came from one of the following sources:

The Electronic Text Center of the University of Virginia
(http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/)
Eldritch Press (http://eldred.ne.mediaone.net)
Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com). Look for their free eBook section.
McAllen Memorial Library (http://www.mcallen.lib.tx.us)
Abika.com (http://www.abika.com)
If you have an Internet connection, we encourage you to visit these sites
and check for additional books that you can download. "

How can you get one?
"If you or your friends would like additional copies of this CD-ROM, and
don't have access to a burner, send email to ebook@XXX.XXX and someone
will arrange it. There will be a nominal fee (probably around $10) for this.
I don't personally mind compiling and burning these for free, but after the
first batch I'll be out sailing on my boat, and when the employees do the
work, someone has to cover the expenses. "

FWIW, I proposed the project, Steve volunteered his bandwidth and time to
compile it and have the copies made and really "owns" it now. He certainly
isn't making any money at this. It's worth every penny of the $10 and you
can burn your own copies if you can live without the snazzy graphic on the
copies you make ;-)

So there you go...
