For a few bucks more you can install an automotive type electric fuel pump.
The main advantage is that if the engine begins to die due to a plugging
primary filter, switching on the pump gives you time to change over to the
other primary without losing the engine. Very handy when transiting tide rips
and strong currents, etc. It will also serve as a backup in the event of
failure of the engine's mechanical pump.
