Thanks John, I'll try that this afternoon. Also purge the engine filter.
For the other folks going on about the gauge, It's 0 to 30 inches Hg.
Yellow ban 8 to 10 inches. So it looks like John(truelove) is correct and
at 3 inches I am developing enough vacuum for fuel. So that kind leaves me
with having done a crappy job of bleeding the system. To the injectors and
beyond!
Buzz Lightyear does diesels :-)

Paul, sounds like you have some air in the system. Did you fill both
filter housings with diesel when reassembling? You did not say
whether you bled the injectors or not, if not then you should bleed
each one at least twice. Follow manufacturers recs. That should
smooth things out. John
